CSU Dominguez Hills Invites California's Cable Access Channels to Take Part 
in Statewide Education Project

California State University, Dominguez Hills, a leader in educational 
television programming, would like to invite community television stations 
state-wide to take part in its Fall 2007 live, interactive programming via 
its connectivity to the California Research & Education Network (CalREN), 
run by the Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC).

Only stations with existing network connectivity from one of their cable 
head-ends to a local CalREN site will be able to participate. CalREN sites 
include California Community Colleges, California State Universities, K-12 
County Offices of Education and University of California campuses, as well 
as a number of independent universities. Through these connections, 
stations can enhance statewide distance education by working together with 
CSU Dominguez Hills to pass along live, interactive educational content to 
viewers throughout their broadcast areas.

The first semester of CSU Dominguez Hills' educational programming will 
begin Saturday, August 25, 2007, and the courses will be broadcast live 
from the CSUDH television studio. CSUDH is the home of the largest distance 
learning program in the California State University system. The courses 
will also be broadcast on DHTV, the university's television programming and 
broadcast service. DHTV has earned worldwide recognition for the quality of 
its productions and a commitment to live, interactive television programming.

Via CalREN, CSUDH will make more than 20 hours per week of CSUDH live 
courses available throughout the state. The schedule will include two 
teacher education courses on Saturday and Sunday mornings and courses of 
general interest such as Jazz in the Modern Era on Tuesday nights, Election 
2008 on Saturday afternoons and Gardens of California on Sunday afternoons. 
During each broadcast, viewers are encouraged to call a toll-free number 
and participate in the class with their questions and comments.

In addition, there will be three courses from the CSUDH Bachelor of Science 
in Applied Studies Degree Completion Program. Recent research has 
determined that millions of Californians who attended community colleges 
and have completed the first two years of college now seek a four-year 
degree to advance their career.
