Monday Musings
January 31, 2005

My how time flies when you are having fun. Looking at the wonderful world
of gigabit broadband has really made my job a mind-bender for the last few
years. Meeting many of you and getting to know your projects has been
amazing. I look forward to wild and crazy success from some of you over
the next few years.

Today, I'm announcing the final Roundtable meeting. The time has come to
finalize the action plan and gain more community support for gigabit
broadband. We have made significant progress over the last three years. I
hope we can continue that progress at this last meeting!

We are holding the final One Gigabit or Bust Roundtable in Los Angeles on
Feb. 24. I hope you can join us.

The agenda is a bit different from the norm – we will be meeting as one big
group for only one day and there will be no task force meetings. As a
group, we will be evaluating what should be included in the One Gigabit or
Bust Initiative: Recommended Action Plan for the State of California.

The tentative agenda will be as follows:

9am Welcome
9:15 am Review of Activities including the CPUC’s broadband
report (if available)
10:00 am Break
10:30 am Breakout Session: What will happen if we don’t get one
gigabit?
11:30 am Reports from breakouts
12:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm Breakout Session: How much is it going to cost?
2:00 pm Reports from breakouts
2:30 pm Break
3:00 pm Breakout Session: Supply and Demand – who/what are the
driving forces?
4:00 pm Reports from the breakouts
4:30 pm Wrap-up and final thank-yous

The draft outline of the Action Plan will be available for review one week
prior to the meeting.

With the issuance of the action plan, CENIC is declaring victory for the
One Gigabit or Bust Initiative and encouraging the wider community to adopt
and use the Action Plan to move forward in California.
